When Ian Marlow first graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, he didn't expect to end up in PropTech. However, Marlow became the CEO of FitechGelb, which was established in 1996. The company was ahead of its curve when launched, quickly attaching itself to the possibilities of the Internet and what could be leveraged from the new medium in terms of communication, reach, businesses, markets, and synergies beyond what was previously possible.
Career Start & Highlights
As FitechGelb grew, Marlow started to focus on the intersection of technology of the cloud and real estate coupled with the idea that businesses could not only utilize the Internet and wireless connectivity, but they could leverage its capabilities to manage operations.
A key factor in how Marlow's team delivered this new strategy involved a vertical approach to service delivery and system building. Rather than the typical approach of engaging different subcontractors that did not understand the full scope or overall vision, FitechGelb offers a fully vertically integrated platform for its clients, providing a complete delivery of products and featuring a hands-on component of the delivery. This approach proved extremely successful, allowing FitechGelb to expand as well as establish itself as a go-to vendor for custom real estate technology platforms.
Leadership Development
Marlow spent quite a bit of time developing his skills for leadership at a number of companies prior to founding FitechGelb. He was originally the Chief of Operations and Information Officer of The Gale Company. From there, he stepped up further. As the CEO of Newmark Knight Frank Global Management Services, Marlow began to expand a more holistic service approach, fully vertically integrating services across his client's portfolios. This was a paradigm shift that expanded his experience and knowledge while directing a global portfolio of over 280 million square feet supported by over 1,000 employees that spanned a global footprint of over 40 countries and all 50 states. Additionally, Marlow served as the global CIO of Newmark Knight Frank, architecting the overall technology vision adopted for all of brokerage, management and ownership platforms.
Based now out of Boca Raton, FitechGelb continues to service clients in real estate as well as enterprise application markets. Ian Marlow continues to follow the same successful philosophy that built the company originally — a focus on people as well as processes supported by technology.
Personal Life
Originally a Brooklyn, NY native Marlow has been a child of the world, traveling and expanding his vision and experience in his extensive travels. His ventures have taken Marlow to both sides of the planet, having lived in the United states, London and South Korea. Today Marlow calls Boca Raton, FL home. It's often said that companies are the children of their entrepreneurs; and there's no question Marlow is very proud of how FitechGelb has grown over the years.
